The family and friends of Chadwick Boseman have gathered for a private memorial to remember the actor.

Loved ones gathered in Malibu, California, to pay their respects to the Black Panther star, who died on August 28 after a private battle with cancer.

In photographs obtained by The Sun, the late actor’s many co-stars — such as Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong’o — attended the event, with Jordan seen comforting the mourners and Boseman’s grieving wife, Taylor Simone Ledward.

The images show the memorial took place on a cliff-top memorial that overlooked the ocean. A photograph of Boseman surrounded by flowers was at the focal point of the event, as music played from a hang drum.

The memorial comes one week after Boseman’s death on August 28. He was 43.

His passing came as a shock to both colleagues and fans as not many knew the actor was secretly battling colon cancer. Boseman was diagnosed in 2016, but it wasn’t until his death that his family revealed he had been undergoing treatment for the last four years.

“Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV,” read a statement from his family. “A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.

“⁣⁣It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”
