There is no doubt that Sister Act and Sister Act 2 are classic films, and it looks like there are efforts being made to make a third film happen.

Recently Whoopi Goldberg spoke with James Corden on “The Late Late Show,” and when asked about what happened to the third film, she responded and said, “For a long time, they kept saying no one wanted to see it. And then quite recently, it turns out, that that may not be true. People may want to see it. So, we’re working diligently to try to figure out how to get the gang together and come back.”

Whoopi talked about the film and said, “It’s a really fun movie. It’s fun and it feels good and you know, nobody’s mad. It’s just like listen, bad singing, great singing, OK singing, and then nuns. What’s better than that?”

As you all know Sister Mary Clarence is just one of the many classic roles that Whoopi has portrayed throughout her career. The first Sister Act film released back in 1992, and the sequel “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit” dropped in 1993.

As we previously reported, back in 2018 it was revealed that a reboot of the classic was in the works for Disney’s streaming service. It was made clear, however, that it was not to be a continuation of the version that we all know starring Whoopi Goldberg.

At the time it was reported that “Insecure” executive producer Regina Hicks, and “Star” showrunner Karin Gist are teaming up to pen the sequel.
